Penny Miller, LCSW-C, CTRS
Penny Miller is the founder and C.E.O. of A Better You Today, LLC. She is a psychotherapist, facilitator, speaker and transformational coach. Throughout her professional career, Penny has served in various agencies providing mental health treatment and supportive services. She has provided community based mental health services to children, adolescents and adults in North Carolina, Maryland and Washington, DC. While working at military treatment facility in the DC metro area Penny was a visionary and driving force of planning, development and implementation of recreation therapy services, within a partial hospitalization program for active duty servicemen and women. Additionally Penny has experience working with male perpetrators of domestic violence, victims of domestic violence and individuals coping with anger and aggressive behaviors.
Penny exercises an attitude of non-judgment and acceptance with the clients she serves. She is wise, intuitive, and compassionate and is an excellent listener. Penny’s interests are: domestic violence, women’s issues, trauma, depression, anxiety and relationship issues. Penny has an eclectic approach combining, person centered, cognitive-behavioral and strengths based treatment modalities into her practice. In her spare time she enjoys reading, journaling, traveling, spending time with her friends, family, and volunteering in her community. Penny is passionate about working with adolescent females and women, providing them with powerful tools to instill a sense of hope, happiness, personal development and resilience to live an abundant life today.
Penny earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Parks and Recreation Management with a concentration in Recreation Therapy from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. She also earned a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Mental Health from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) and a licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland.
